If this is more than a practice

Every lesson here is a short practice, not a treatment. A wandering mind, a hard feeling, a flash of anger are all normal.

Some things are worth more than a practice. If a feeling will not settle and that scares you. If your mind keeps circling somewhere dark. If anger frightens you or the people around you. None of that is a failure of the practice. It means this moment needs a person, not an exercise.

If it is not urgent but keeps happening, a doctor or therapist is a good next step.

Help with the app

Email bemindful@themindfuldesign.org. Say which phone you use and what happened, and a person writes back.

Your progress lives on your phone, so it stays when you update the app. Deleting the app deletes it too; there is no account to bring it back from.

The Guide needs a connection; every lesson works without one.

The daily reminder is offered after your first lesson. To change or stop it, use your phone’s notification settings for Mindful Design.

Accessibility

We aim for the app to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and to work with the accessibility features built into your phone.

What works today. One idea per card, and a tap almost anywhere moves on. Buttons and rows are at least 44 points. Text contrast passes AA in light and in dark mode, and the app follows your phone’s dark mode and Reduce Motion. Nothing is timed, and nothing asks you to type an answer.

What doesn’t yet. Text keeps its own size and does not follow your phone’s text size setting, and pinch to zoom is off; the Zoom feature in your phone’s accessibility settings magnifies any screen meanwhile. We have not yet tested every lesson end to end with VoiceOver or TalkBack on a device.

Tell us about a barrier. Write to bemindful@themindfuldesign.org, say which screen and what happened, and we will fix it or find you another way in. We’re a small nonprofit in Kirkland, Washington, and we read every message.
